Destructive tornados rip across US killing at least 14 people and wrecking homes

Fourteen people died when 20 tornados tore across the US on Christmas Eve.

And rescuers fear the death toll could rise as they search through the rubble of wrecked buildings.

Seven people died in Mississippi and six others were killed in Tennessee as Southern and Midwest states bore the brunt of the violent storms.
One of the victims was a boy of seven, who was trapped inside a car as it was tossed up into the air.

The tornados knocked down trees and power lines, plunging thousands into darkness.
